Walney Cluster Orienteering Festival

On tuesday afternoon on the 27th April the rain held off as about 60 pupils descended on Walney school to take part in the Walney Cluster Sprint Orienteering Festival.

Year 5 and 6 pupils from North Walney, South Walney Juniors and Vickerstown were all present for the afternoon. The pupils were given a quick introduction in the basic skills they needed to compete the courses. They were then set of in pairs to race head to head over the courses. Each pupil raced over two courses. It was an enjoyable afternoon and everyone learnt a great deal and had fun.

Roller blading disco for Year 11 girls.

Some year 11 girls  engaging in Physical education again. I asked  Hannah our female sports Amabassador to discuss with some year 11 girls who were disengaged with PE what they would like to do. They came up with many ideas and having discussed some which were not practical or feasible they decided on roller blading.

All the girls had to bring kit and they all decided they would make a contribution to the cost .

The girls had a really good time and enjoyed themselves.
Unfortunately due to the large amount it cost to hire the hall at £45 for half and hour the girls could not go as many times as planned.

The girls really enjoyed themselves and some of them had not brought PE kit in over a year.

During the afternoon they learnt and developed their skills in giving a presentation.

Girls Rugby Development Day at Strawberry Fields

On the 9th of October a minibus full  of Walney year 9 and 10 girls descended on the Rugby club at the strawberry fields. Having abandoned the minibus in the road because there was no way their teacher was getting up the narrow lane.

The walney girls were a credit to the school. There was a high level of skill displayed. There was much enjoyment fun and laughter had by all. Our girls dominated the game at the end and it was very obvious they had had some prior sound coaching from Kieran Marshall.
